"Marketing 101"
To make the most out of your
marketing effort you first need to decide:
1.
WHAT
is to be achieved.
- ex: Communicate next quarter's educational offerings
2.
HOW
it will be achieved.
- ex: Through email? Meetings? Conferences? Newsletters? Media
placements? Mailings?
3.
WHEN
it will be achieved.
- ex: If sending an email, decide which dates the email will go out
and to whom. (at least 3 times is best)
4.
WHO
is responsible for achieving each goal.
- ex: Whom from your staff will either create the email and/or
marketing piece, who is in charge of gathering the email list, who
is in charge of sending it out, and who is in charge of collecting
responses.
5.
WHAT
amount of resources (time, people, and money) will be allocated to
achieving each goal.
- ex: How much time does your team have to be able to put these
marketing pieces together and deliver them? If printing flyers or
mailing, is there money in the budget to do this?
6.
HOW
will you measure progress towards achieving each goal.
- If sending an email 3 times on Tuesday mornings at 9am and only 12
people responded, try sending it on a Wednesday afternoon or perhaps
changing the subject line. |
