February 26th Membership Meeting Recap:

Four HVAC member firms shared various energy saving strategies and figures with us.  We learned that

*There are many new products available to reduce energy consumption, usually related to cooling down solar heated space. These include ceramic window, wall, and roof coatings. Heat recovery systems are also increasing.

*Most commercial buildings use 30% of electricity on HVAC, and 26% on lighting.

*New codes require efficiency increased by 30%; however, new refrigerants required are less efficient, SO new equipment is needed to get to the increased efficiency requirements.

Community Alliances Committee:
We need a few good friends!  BOMA would like to increase it's presence in our community by broadcasting representation between local entities.  If you currently belong to another community or professional organization, we would like to solicit your assistance in bringing that group's information back to BOMA, as well as you serving as representation for BOMA at that group.  The benefits could be endless:  As simple as information sharing between groups, as elaborate as forming alliances with other groups to co-sponsor events or community efforts.  Very little time commitment is required... just simply attend the meetings you are already going to!
